The Challenge

The City of Abbotsford faced a significant challenge with a planned installation involving a concrete junction box. The proposed box’s weight raised concerns about its placement on top of a sewer force main. With only a layer of dirt separating the pipe and the box, there was a high risk of damaging the sewer force main due to the excessive weight.

The Solution

To address these concerns, the City turned to CIF Composites Inc. and their Pro-Eco-Lite™ heavy-duty junction box. The lighter design of the Pro-Eco-Lite™ box offered a critical advantage, significantly reducing the risk of damage to the underlying sewer infrastructure. Additionally, the box is engineered to handle highway-rated vehicle traffic, making it an ideal choice for this application.

The Installation

The installation process was seamless and efficient. The lightweight nature of the Pro-Eco-Lite™ box allowed for easy lifting and precise placement, saving time and reducing labor costs. The bolted lid design also added a layer of security, allowing for tamper-resistant bolts to deter wire theft.

City of Abbotsford Feedback on Installation:

  • Ease of Installation: “It was quick and easy to install, and the lightweight design made positioning straightforward.” - Darren Singer, City of Abbotsford
  • Security Features: “The bolted lid allows us to install security bolts, which deters wire theft.” Darren Singer, City of Abbotsford
